Reckless Tortuga started as a small web based comedy channel in 2010 when they aired Online gamer,

Reckless Tortuga is a large comedy group on YouTube and its members have participated in events such as VidCon and Comic-Con. Aside from their main sketches, Reckless Tortuga has also been working on projects such as Racism in America, Park It Up, The Sketch Lab, and Extra Butter, Please. Reckless Tortuga was formed by Lindsey Reckis, Jason Schnell, Eric Pumphrey. As of March 2013, the channel had over 235 million video views and 970,000 subscribers.

Online Gamer

The sketch follows the life of an avid gamer, Aaron (Eric Pumphrey), whose obsession with video games such as Call of Duty has cast him as a social pariah. Aaron’s inability to cope with social norms and his tendency to treat life as a video game has caused his family and friends to reject him. The series is known for its vulgar language and the use of internet references in real life. The cast also includes Aaron’s girlfriend, Becka (Lynsey Bartilson), his coworker, Ted (Davan O’Firinn), his new boss, Dameon (Tommy Savas), and his clan buddy Sam (Luke Baybak). The series started in December 23, 2009.

In my next blog i will link to a clip of the Series at its current point in time

Animated Technology’s

Green Screen

The best example of green screen from everyday life is the weather person on the evening news. He/She stands in front of a green wall. A computer can tune into the green color and replace every green pixel with a pixel from another image. Of course, if the weather guy happens to wear something green, the computer will perform its magic there too, creating a hole in the person. The great thing about the technology is that it has become incredibly easy for just about anyone to use it. With a little care the effect looks incredibly real,

The principal subject is filmed or photographed against a background consisting of a single color or a relatively narrow range of colors, usually blue or green because these colors are considered to be the furthest away from skin tone. The portions of the video which match the preselected color are replaced by the alternate background video. This process is commonly known as “keying, keying out or simply a key”.

CGI

is the application of computer graphics to create or contribute to images in art, printed media, video games, films, television programs, commercials, and simulators.

Computer animation is essentially a digital successor to the art of stop motion animation of 3D models and frame-by-frame animation of 2D illustrations. Computer generated animations are more controllable than other more physically based processes, such as constructing miniatures for effects shots or hiring extras for crowd scenes, and because it allows the creation of images that would not be feasible using any other technology. It can also allow a single graphic artist to produce such content without the use of actors, expensive set pieces, or props.

Unto Dawn Part 2

I talked about the setting and the plot in the last blog this is just a few facts that i thought would be interesting

The web series’s name Forward Unto Dawn was taken from the UNSC charon class light frigate FFG-201 “The Dawn”

The Series production team was co produced by the creates “The Hunger Games,” “The Avengers,” “Avatar” including producers Lydia Antonini and Josh Feldman, former Warner Bros.

The creating of specialized costumes and armor, and visual effects are being designed by an award-winning team led by John Sullivan lead producer on “The Pacific”.

Even tho the web series was only 60minutes in length and split into 5 parts with the release of Halo 4 in November 2012 a Special edition blueray copy of the Series was released with the Purcahse of the Legenary edition of halo 4 giving Halo fans an extra 30minutes of footage which would provide more insight into the story of characters.

Since Dawn broke there have been several attempts by non professionals to create live action based on games some with significant success.

With Halo 5 coming this spring 343 and Microsoft announced that another live action series was currently in development and would be a “slight continuation” of that series but would not entirely related to Dawn

seeing as this is the 2nd blog about the series i will leave the video below

Halo Forward Unto Dawn

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is a science fiction web series set in the universe of the Halo franchise. Forward Unto Dawn consists of five 15-minute episodes released weekly starting on October 5, 2012, and was later released as a single film on DVD. The series was produced as a marketing effort for the video game Halo 4 intended to widen the audience of the Halo series and as a stepping stone to a potential Halo film. It was written by Aaron Helping and Todd Helping, and directed by Stewart Hendler.
Forward Unto Dawn was shot in Vancouver over 25 days in May 2012 on a budget just under USD $10 million. It has just under 500 shots with computer generated imagery, approximately a quarter of what a feature film would have, but the visual effects received praise from reviewers.
The Story follows the path of young cadet Thomas Laskey at a twenty sixth centuary military training academy as it is attacked by the alien race called the “Covenant” a grouping of alien races intent on the destruction of the human species because they beleive themselves the greater species to follow the footsteps of the Forerunners.
